Understanding Gnosis
A lot is said about Gnosis and Gnosticism today. There are many experts and scholars who, apparently knowledgeable through the study of ancient manuscripts, declare a definitive understanding of what is and is not Gnosticism. Additionally, today there are many pseudo-New Age mystics talking about Gnosis and Gnosticism. What this leaves us with is a lot of misunderstandings and terrible confusion.
Gnosticism has been studied by many scholars, nevertheless, the fact remains that to be a scholar one does not need Gnosis. Therefore, what academia has accumulated is nothing more than unsubstantiated theories and rhetoric. Depending entirely on empirical observation and logical analysis, it is obvious that those who study in this manner have no way to understand Gnosticism, no method to acquire Gnosis. The Gnostic Mysteries are not intellectual data, but rather living experience. This is why the gnostic does not need to believe in God, but rather knows God. No one has uttered the Mystery, know no one has understood the Mystery, without having incarnating the Mystery.
What is interesting is that those who understand nothing but dust and manuscripts cannot accept these statements. By stating, “Prove otherwise, and then I will believe you…” they have already admitted their ignorance, literally, their “lack of gnosis.” The one who has Gnosis does not rely upon theories, postulates and beliefs. Nevertheless, those who do not have Gnosis continue to believe in an idea of Gnosis, they only believe what others believe, they point to other documents that believe in what they believe, and they want us to believe it too. The method is vague, even useless when brought to an extreme. They swear by it because it is all they understand.
The “New Age” movement, it seems is no better. The pseudo-New Age author talks at length and in great detail concerning many beautiful topics. In this way, people looking to escape their torpid lives at any cost possible fill their head withh many beautiful theories, meanwhile, ignoring the terrible and harsh realities, they continue to suffer. There is a “Gnostic” who states that Hell does not really exist. There are “New Age Gnostics” that, while studying the Pistis Sophia, ignore completely those passages regarding hell and the terrible karma one pays for abusing the sexual energy. It is obvious that they are ignorant, because they ignore.
Very few, therefore, have Gnosis – that is, direct experience, direct knowledge. This is not experience from the mind or the knowledge from the mind, but from beyond the mind, which is the Illuminating Void, Heaven, etc..
The Gnostic understands that only God knows himself. With this in hand, we can intelligently work within our own consciousness, to transform it, to awaken it. The method is outlined in every religion, according to the time and culture upon which it was founded. In truth, the method is very exact and very clear once one unveils the keys that have been hidden. All religions are aspects of Religion. This is irrefutable when the facts are unveiled.
Gnosis only comes from within, and it is the only way to understand what Gnosticism is. True Gnosticism is the same message of the New Age of Aquarius. Totally washing away the decrepit, degenerate, old and wretched norms of the past, the message of Aquarius is totally revolutionary and therefore rejected by the masses that support and enjoy their stupidity, suffering and ignorance. The message of this website is for the intelligent rebel – the rebel with a cause – the one who is looking for a path out of the darkness and who is thirsty for the everlasting waters of transcendental knowledge (Gnosis).
